Welcome from the Pastor

Welcome to Saint James Catholic Church! For more than a century, our parish has been the spiritual home for so many. What began as a small rural chapel on the outskirts of Washington, DC has become a large and thriving community.

What first struck me when I became Pastor, is the enduring love parishioners have for Saint James. It is a common sight to see grandparents, and even great-grandparents at Mass and various events with the next generation. It is a gift of continuity and stability which we give to our younger members.

We are blessed to have the IHM Sisters administering our school since 1923. Their Gospel witness, as well as their expertise in education, has touched countless lives. The IHM charism extends its reach to those not enrolled in our school; our PREP program (Religious Education) is led by one of our Sisters who works with children and adults in their faith formation.

While we honor and cherish our past, we are a parish which continues to seek new ways to be more than just a Sunday respite. Our Bible Studies, youth activities, Hispanic outreach and various speaker series all strive to meet the needs of a large and diverse population. The Fall Parish Picnic begins our year on a happy note as the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts and members of our various ministries work to put on an enjoyable event. Our Annual Bazaar (now in its 61styear!), and more recent Lenten Fish Fries bring together not only our parish family, but the greater Falls Church community as well.

I invite you to join us for Mass and any one of the many events throughout any given week. May God bless you.
