Lay Dominicans are single or married members of the Dominican Order who have responded to a call to live the Dominican way of life in their own families and occupations.
Dominican life is marked by four pillars: prayer, study, community, and apostolate. Of these, study is perhaps the most distinctive element, as Dominicans are constantly called to study scripture, the teachings of the Church, and contemporary issues in the light of Faith. We are life-long learners, who put that thirst for Truth at the service of our apostolic efforts. Our “community” consists of monthly meetings and occasional social gatherings. Dominicans are known as the Order of Preachers. Our “preaching” begins with striving to live a holy life and blossoms in sharing the Truth as our talents and opportunities allow, including pro-life work, writing, ministry to the vulnerable, and catechesis.
We are professed members who gather at Saint James on the third Sunday of the month.
You are warmly invited to join us for Evening Prayer (Vespers) in the Parish House from 5:00pm-6:45pm on any third Sunday. Feel free to contact Rose at [email protected] with any questions.
